Philharmonic South West is a community (volunteer) orchestra which is renowned as open, inclusive and accessible.

Our primary aim is to provide an opportunity for people to learn and experience orchestral music.

For member players, the opportunity is to attend rehearsals, learning a concert program each term (same as the school term calendar). To round out the playing experience and provide an aim and challenge, PSW present and co-present concerts, usually, one at the end of each term. Concerts are in a range of settings and venues. Refer to our Poster File to get a sense of what concerts might look like. But remember, PSW is always trying new things.

For “non-playing” members we have our “Friends of the Orchestra” without whom concerts would not happen. Every organisation requires administration, funding and other management tasks. If you are interested in playing & supporting in other ways or supporting as a non-player, please contact us. We are sure to have a need in an area that you can contribute and which will grow our activities and help us to become more sustainable.

If you would like to join, please complete either the YOUTH_APPLICATION or ADULT_APPLICATION form and email to the Orchestra Manager (email address on the form) and provide payment of the relevant fee. Non-players should simply note this in the Music section of the form.
